This Thursday, Viorica Pintilie (voice) and Ciprian Pop (guitar) are holding a concert in the romantic surroundings of Ioanid Park, just a few feet away from the French Institute. Viorica Pintilie has been performing jazz for 15 years now, while Ciprian Pop is one of the best-known Romanian guitarists, both having collaborations with big names in Romanian jazz & blues.

Soul Serenade’s first unplugged gig @ BEAT bar umanist

On February 7, popular young band Soul Serenade (pictured above) will be playing their first fully unplugged gig. Roots music lovers can enjoy the sound of acoustic blues, free of cables, mics or any sound equipment, just like back in the 1920s and ‘30s.

Blues Preachers @ BackYard Garden

After four years of careful study, through a long and complex process of musical archeology, focused exclusively on “Delta” style, the Blues Preachers repertoire now includes original interpretations of some songs that made famous some of the biggest names in blues. Skyp James, Mississippi John Hurt, Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, R.L. Burnside (or contemporaries Ry Cooder and Taj Mahal) are just some of the musicians who inspire the Blues Preachers project.

Evening delight @ Serendipity

Elena Morariu (voice) and Sorin Romanescu (guitar) have in common a passion for folklore, ancestral sounds, multicultural explorations and the fusion between old and new, all from the free perspective of jazz. The concert this Saturday, at Serendipity, includes Romanian, Turkish, Portuguese and Rromani traditional songs adapted to jazz. Sorin Romanescu is one of the best Romanian jazz & blues guitarists of the moment, while Elena Morariu is a young jazz singer and composer.
