What better place could there be to watch a vampire film than an atmospheric medieval Transylvanian town? This is exactly what is on offer at the first “Lună Plină” ( Full Moon ) film festival in Biertan, Sibiu county, dedicated to all things creepy and macabre. Focusing on horror and fantasy movies, the event is the first of its kind in Romania and will run between August 16 and 19 this year.
The Romanian Film Association and the Transylvanian International Film Festival (TIFF) have organized the event jointly. There will be two indoor and two outdoor venues, including screenings in the central square overlooked by the fortified medieval church.
Besides traditional local pensions, the festival goers can stay at camping facilities laid on for the event. The event will also host an arts and crafts fair offering traditional dishes and goodies, hand made products and concerts in the evenings.
Founded in 1283 AD, Biertan was one of the first Saxon settlements in Transylvania. It is around 25 km away from Sighisoara and Medias.
