This Saturday’s performance of The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, a satirical parable about the rise of Hitler at Odeon Theatre will be provided with English subtitles, by request.
Written in 1941 in Helsinki, Finland, where Bertolt Brecht was waiting for a visa to enter the United States, Ascensiunea lui Arturo Ui poate fi oprită / The Resistible Rise Of Arturo Ui takes place in the gangster world of Chicago, all the characters in the play having direct counterparts in real Nazi Germany. The staging continues Romanian director Dragoş Galgoţiu’s radical aesthetic experiences, created in collaboration with set designer Andrei Both, costume designer Doina Levintza, choreographer Răzvan Mazilu and actors at Odeon Theatre.
