The eight local edition of St. Patrick’s Day kicks off March 15, starting 17.00 in Bucharest’s Old Town.

The Feast of Saint Patrick is celebrated annually on March 17, the death date of the patron saint of Ireland, all over the world where there is an Irish community. In line with this tradition, Bucharest will see a host of Irish, Romanian and Hungarian artists and performers gathering to celebrate with music and dance, a parade on the streets of the historical center of the capital city and a late-night pub party.

The parade will start at 16.00 in the small square behind the Central Bank BNR building and will follow the Smardan-Selari-Covaci-Lipscani route back to the stage where the St. Patrick’s show will take place. Some of the artists expected to entertain the public are the Irish dance group Irish Way and traditional Irish music bands Shannon Ceili Band, Truverii, and The Sorted Session while the SteySha Irish School of Dance will take the first dance steps of the party.

Irish folk enthusiasts will get to listen to the recently formed band Jam Yard. The artistic program will end with performances by the Celtic-rock group Blackbeers and Hungarian band Bordo Sarkany.

Starting 21.00 the party will move to St. Patrick Pub, where guests are invited to a jam-session and open-mic night.
