The fourth edition of the Le Grand Prix de l’Opéra will take place between August 17th and August 20th. It is the only competition of this genre in this part of the world which is member of World Federation of International Music Competition. It has three public rounds, where 52 competitors from all around the world will take their shot at making it into the semifinals and finals.

The international jury is made up of: John Allison, editor-in-chief for Opera Magazine (London), Mihai Cosma, artistic advisor of the Bucharest National Opera House, Brenda Hurley, manager of the Zurich Opera Studio, Joan Matabosch, Artistic Director of Teatro Real (Madrid), Hein Mulders, manager of Essen Philharmonie and Aalto Theater Essen, Jesus Noriega, Artistic Director of Dutch National Opera (Amsterdam), Dennis O’Neill, CBE, tenor și and manager of Wales International Academy of Voice (Cardiff), and Gianni Tangucci, Maggio Musicale Formazione (Florence).

The competition offers money prizes in total value of approximately EUR 15,000 and participants also have the chance of landing contracts for roles/concerts at the Bucharest National Opera, at the Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany, participate in a musical project of the Radio Romania. Other prizes or contracts with musical institutions in Europe might be added.
