The Bucharest Opera opens the season with an Opera Gala, scheduled for October 14th and a Ballet Gala, set for October 16th.

The Extraordinary Opera Gala will be conducted by Marcello Mottadelli, while the direction and artistic concept belong to Renato Zanella. Doina Levintza worked on the scenography. The public will get to listen to works by Verdi, Georges Bizet, Giacomo Puccini, Camille Saint-Saëns, Mascagni, Offenbach, Verdi or Tchaikovski. Romanian and foreign artists will take the stage, some names including Anita Hartig, Ambrogio Maeştri, Alexandru Badea, Irina Iordăchescu, Ildiko Komlósi or the Children’s Choir of the Bucharest Opera.

The Extraordinary Ballet Gala will be conducted by Pietro Salvaggio. Renato Zanella signs the artistic concept. Some of the dancers that will go on stage are: Lauren Cuthbertson and Federico Bonelli (The Royal Ballet, London), Esther Jurado (Ballet Nacional de España), Nicoletta Manni and Timofej Andrijashenko (Teatro alla Scala di Milano), Cristina Dijmaru (Bucharest Opera) and Joaquin De Luz (New York City Ballet), Natasha Mair and Davide Dato (Wiener Staatsballett). The gala will show, among others, fragments from The Swan Lake, Giselle, Le Corsaire and Don Quijote.
