The international film festival Cinepolitica will take place between April 13th and April 17th at the Elivra Popescu cinema in Bucharest. The festival, which includes besides film screenings various debates and special events, aims to expose the political mechanisms and motivations impacting everyday living.

The international competition of the festival includes a selection of recent feature films which tackle the area of the political and its implications.

Historical thriller People vs. Fritz Bauer, directed by Lars Kraume, will open the festival. The film presents the obstacles encountered by a prosecutor in the attempt to condemn one of those responsible for the Holocaust.

Another three films to be screened at the festival bring to light contemporary issues such as the terrorist attacks in France, the consequences of the Yugoslavia war and of the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin, one of the supporters of peace in the Middle East. They are: Made in France, directed by Nicolas Boukhrief; Brother Deyan, directed by Bakur Bakuradze; and Rabin, the Last Day, directed by Amos Gitai.

The festival will close with The Childhood of a Leader, the debut film of actor Brady Corbet and winner of two awards at the 2015 Venice Film Festival. The script of the film is inspired by a novella of Jean-Paul Sartre, L’Enfance d’un chef, published in 1939.
