The Diversity March will take place this weekend in Bucharest, on June 25th, starting 15:30 ending the Bucharest Pride series of events. The march takes place on the Arch of Triumph – Piata Victoriei route.

Michael Roth, minister of State for Europe at the German Federal Foreign Office in the third Merkel cabinet, and Carla Delgado, the first trans person elected MP in Spain, are expected to attend the march, according to the organizers.

This twelfth edition of the Bucharest Pride event started on June 20th with family theme. With this, the organizers are taking a stand against a recent initiative aimed at a legislative proposal to revise the country’s constitution so as to define family as the union between a man and a woman. As such the slogan of the event is “On June 25th we are going to Pride as a family!”.

Previously known as GayFest, Bucharest Pride is an annual festival dedicated to LGBT rights in Romania, taking place in Bucharest. Its first edition was in 2004. The event culminates each year with the March of Diversity. It is organized by the non-profit organization Accept, which works for the rights of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) in the country.

Bucharest Pride features film screenings, art exhibitions, theater and parties, as well as seminars and debates concerning LGBT social issues. The full schedule of the event is available here.
