A series of four English-subtitles screenings of Aferim, the latest Romanian movie to get a distinction at the Berlinale, are scheduled at the Elvire Popesco cinema in Bucharest. The screenings will take place on March 13, 14, 15 and 27.
The black-and-white film, directed by Radu Jude, won the Silver Bear for Best Director at this year’s edition of the Berlin International Film Festival. The movie revives an often overlooked part of Romanian history – the slavery of the Roma population, while blending in Western elements.
Tickets, priced RON 15, are available on eventbook.ro or at the box office of the Elvire Popesco cinema, inside the French Institute.
