The 19th edition of the European Film Festival will be held this year in Bucharest and several cities in the country, starting May 7. The most important film event of May will screen more than 40 movies (drama, comedy, music biographies, documentaries and animation) from 25 countries. The previous edition brought at Studio and Elvire Popesco (the French Institute) movie theatres approximately 8,000 spectators.

The screenings in Bucharest will take place at Cinema Pro, Studio and Elvira Popesco movie theatres and will be accompanied by discussions about the films in the presence of producers, directors, actors or film critics. As last year, access to screenings will be free. Entrance to the opening gala will be available based on invitations only.

The Honorary Ambassador of the 19th edition of European Film Festival is director Tudor Giurgiu, whose new film, Why me? / De ce eu?, premiered this week.

The European Film Festival is organized by the Romanian Cultural Institute together with the European Commission Representation in Romania, under EUNIC, with the support of embassies and cultural centers of European countries.
