Far from Carolina and Dan Papirany Trio will perform at the opening gala concert of Europafest in Bucharest on May 12th. The Sibiu event will be opened by Ekaterina Valiulina. Europafest is a festival covering jazz, blues, pop and classical music. Over 300 artists from 45 countries will perform at the event, held both in Bucharest and Sibiu.

The Bucharest opening gala takes place at the Odeon Theater, starting 20:00.

Far from Carolina is a duo performing US music. It is made up of guitarist Terry Lees, receiver of the UK National Guitarist of the Year title, and Mel Hayes, well-known singer and guitarist. The two have performed at over 1,000 events and festivals in the UK, Europe and the US.

Dan Papirany Trio is a jazz group from Auckland, New Zeeland. It is led by Israeli-born pianist and compositor Dan Papirany. The repertoire of the group is made up of jazz pieces, ballads and original compositions. Papirany recorded seven albums, and Session Two –Originals was nominated at the New Zeeland Music Awards. His composition Bragara won the Original Song Competition at the Jazz Convention Original tunes competition. Bassist Pete McGregor has been playing from an early age and is considered one of the best bassists in New Zeeland. Percussionist Steve Wright comes from Australia and is experienced with various musical genres. The trio will have Norwegian singer and composer Vibe Voller as guest at the concert.
