Often referred to as the world’s greatest living violinist, Maxim Vengerov is scheduled to perform in Bucharest, on November 20, in UNICEF’s Awareness and Fundraising Gala taking place at the Parliament Palace. The Grammy-winner has held sold out concerts with some of the most famous orchestras (Berlin Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Toronto and Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra) and some of the most renowned conductors in the world.

Maxim Vengerov is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, being the first classical music player to receive this status (in 1997).

The event is organized on the International Day for Children’s rights and aims to raise awareness on child protection against violence. The Gala is part of the campaign “Verbal violence hurts” carried out by UNICEF during October 2014 and June 2015.

Maxim Vengerov’s recital is scheduled to start at 19:00. For more details on how to participate, visit www.unicef.ro or contact Mihai Gligor at [email protected] or +4021 201 78 64.
