Celebrations to mark the International Day of Ia, the traditional Romanian peasant blouse, are being held on June 23rd and June 24th in Bucharest and outside of the country. At Gradina cu Filme (The Films Garden) in Piata Lahovari in Bucharest, Creart is organizing a festival dedicated to this piece of clothing that has lately become a sort of a country brand. The event will include creative workshops, an accessories exhibition, a screening of Romanian film Aferim! and a Maria Raducanu concert. The entire program of the event at Gradina cu Filme is available here.

At the same time, in Vienna, a fashion show centered on the traditional blouse will take place. The collection showcased was created by local fashion designer Liliana Turoiu. The Vienna public will get the opportunity to get acquainted with the history of the ia and see a variety of models from all over the country in a dedicated exhibition. Details on registration to the event can be found here.

The Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest has organized a program of events at the French Institute to mark the same occasion and the celebration of Sanziene, the time of the year when the crops begin to ripen.
