Starting December 17, jazz and a cappella enthusiasts can listen to popular sextet Jazzapella’s series of Christmas concerts in Bucharest, Predeal (mountain resort in Prahova Valley) and other cities in the country. The concerts are a preview of their new Christmas album to be launched this week – 10 a cappella carols ranging from jazz standards like ”White Christmas” and ”Jingle Bells” to archaic songs from the Romanian and Hungarian folklore. The sound of this album softly sways from jazz, to world-music and local traditions.

The first concert is set for tomorrow, December 17, in Bucharest’s Green Hours, at 20:00. Entry fee is RON 35. More details are available on the event page.

The next day, December 18, Jazzappella is scheduled to sing at 21:00, at InSpayer Bistro, near Universitate Square in Bucharest. Entry fee is RON 15. Go here for more details.

On December 24 and 25, the jazz sextet holds two special concerts in Predeal, popular mountain resort, at Orizont Hotel. Check out the dedicated event page for details on the two evenings.

Jazzappella is the only jazz a cappella band in Romania. Since its founding, three years ago, the sextet developed a singular character, with a sound of a rare versatility in rhythm and dynamic. Together, the six artists coming from very different backgrounds are a live example of what the human voice can achieve.
