US sax player Kenny Garrett is returning to Bucharest for a concert to be held April 21st at Sala Radio, starting 20:00.

The concert will feature the artist’s newest album, Pushing the World Away, which is also the title of the event. The album received a Grammy nomination for best instrumental jazz album. It is a varied one and includes pieces such as Hey, Chick, dedicated to Chick Corea, Chucho’s Mambo, Garrett’s vision of a collaboration with Chucho Valdés or Brother Brown, a musical salute dedicated to his friend and co-producer Donald Brown.

“I played alongside Sting, with Guru or Q-Ti, but I was also on stage together with legends such as Woody Shaw, Freddie Hubbard or Art Blakey & the Jazz Messengers. I have always loved music, in all of its variety,” the artist says. The collaboration with Miles Davies, with whom he recorded three albums, was decisive in his formation.

At the Bucharest concert, Garrett will perform together with pianist Vernell Brown, bass player Corcoran Holt, and percussionists McClenty Hunter and Ruby Bird, all of them present on the Pushing the World Away album.
