“Zilele Recoltei” (Harvest Days), an open-air fair with traditional products, is open this week until this Sunday, October 5. Taking place in Lumea Copiilor Park, next to Obor Market, it gathers over 200 producers from all over the country, according to organizing authorities.
Most popular products are: cheese, traditional cold cuts, salami and sausages, pickles, zacusca, various types of traditional bread, trout cooked on fir tree branch, sarmale, pickled carp, homemade sweets, pies, traditionally preserved food, as well as seasonal fruits and vegetables. Taking part at the fair are tens of fruit and vegetable producers, members of the AGROSTAR Federation.
Must, the main attraction of the harvest season, will not miss. At some stands, must is made on the spot, a good opportunity to watch how it is made. Well-known winegrowers from all over the country will have presentation stands.
During these weeks, Romanians take advantage of the affordable prices at fairs and in traditional markets. It is a very good time to buy vegetables and fruits for home-made winter provisions: pickles, jam, bottled compote or preserved vegetable mixes.
Not to miss at the fair are the handicrafts, traditional costumes, bulrush slippers, Horezu pottery, necklaces, hand-painted icons or leather belts.
