A new jazz festival is set to take place August 19th and 20th in Smida, 90 km away from Cluj-Napoca.
The village of Smida is located at the heart of the Apuseni Nature Park, a protected area and among the last remaining, large, natural surfaces of forest-covered karst. The 76,000 hectares park is home to over 1,500 caves, the closest one being the Big Cave in Firii Valey. The park also hosts underground glaciers, the most notable being the Scarisoara one, set 40 km way from Smida.
Since this is a pilot-edition of the event, entrance to the events and concerts is free.
The line-up includes Sweden-born sax player Ilhan Ersahin, known for his involvement in projects or groups such as Love Trio, Wax Poetic, Nublu Orchestra or Istanbul Sessions. Together with bass player Alp Ersonmez, drummer Turgut Alp Bekoğlu and percussionist Izzet Kizil, all coming from Turkey, will deliver a fusion of New York East Village and of Istanbul nights.
Besides music, the public can also attend reading sessions delivered by writers Filip and Matei Florian.
The full program of the event can be checked here.
