Nine foreign movies proposed for this year’s Oscars will premiere in Bucharest at the end of this week. The films made in Romania, the Republic of Moldova, Hungary, Turkey, Russia, Poland, Italy, Canada and Belgium will be screened between January 9 and 15 at the Studio Cinema in Bucharest.

A week later, some of these films might be nominated for Best Foreign Film at the 87th edition of the Academy Awards – the Oscars. Two of the films scheduled for this screening period will preview in Romania: Canada’s proposal, Mommy by Xavier Dolan, and Italy’s proposal, Human Capital by Paolo Virzi.

The series of screenings will start on Friday, January 9, in the evening, with Romania’s proposal, the Japanese Dog, by Tudor Cristian Jurgiu – the director’s debut feature length movie.

The proposal from the Republic of Moldova, The Lower Sky Limit / La limita de jos a cerului, by Igor Cobileanski, will be screened on Saturday, January 10, at 15,00.
