Bucharest joined the No Pants Subway Ride, event taking place on January 11 in New York and almost 50 other cities in the world. Organized by Improv Everywhere, the event has a simple concept: random passengers board a subway car at separate stops in the middle of winter without pants. The participants behave as if they do not know each other, and they all wear winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves. The only unusual thing is their lack of pants.

“Improv Everywhere is simply about fun. We are big believers in organized fun. Our missions are sources of entertainment for participants, those who have seen us live know this. In the process we hope to bring enthusiasm in places where otherwise sensational things don’t happen and give foreigners a unique experience and a beautiful story to tell. We believe that our actions must not involve humiliation or embarrassment, they can be simply about making someone laugh, smile, or stop to observe the world around them. ” organizers say.

Those who will want to join the event need to follow just three rules: to be willing to not wear pants on subway, to be able to keep a straight face about it, and to travel using a valid subway pass. The meeting place is the subway exit in Unirii square, next to Hanul lui Manuc (see the map here), on January 11, at 15:00. Participants are encouraged to bring a backpack or a shoulder bag for the pants and wear normal winter clothes.
