Photographer Cristian Munteanu will open the Life and death in Văcăreşti Pit exhibition on February 17, 2015 at 19:00 in the exhibition hall at F64 in Bucharest, one of Southeastern Europe’s biggest photo concept stores.

The photo-documentary showcases the one year and a half project started by Cristian Munteanu and Sorin Vidis in April 2013. The photos capture the stories of seven families living in the Văcăreşti Pit (now national park Văcăreşti Delta) in the area neighboring the Sun Plaza Mall in Bucharest, whose lives began to change after a fire, according to Mediafax newswire.

“I went there, on the one hand, because the subject was rich in terms of photography: capturing everyday life of the last people who lived in the area before it became a national park and before they had to leave. On the other hand, I wanted to bring the story of these families to the attention of those who could help them with anything. My pictures tell the stories of life and death of these people, during that time.” said Cristian Munteanu.

Photographer Cristian Munteanu received the mention of Sony World Photography Awards in 2013 and 2014. His exhibitions include, among others, World Street Photography and Street Views á-Priori in 2013, Romanian Photographer Salon in 2014 and Versus, but together (Negreşti Oaş 2013). Since 2014, he is a collaborator of the Mediafax Photo agency.

The exhibition will be open between February 17 to 28. For more details, check out the event page.
