Jazz musician Ravi Coltrane, the son of jazz giant John Coltrane, is coming with his band to Bucharest’s Sala Radio, on February 22. Sax player, band leader and composer, he is considered to be one of the most acclaimed improvisers of his generation of American musicians of the genre.

Ravi Coltrane’s concert in Bucharest is part of the European tour to promote his “Spirit Fiction” album recorded by the famous Blue Note Records. The Ravi Coltrane Quartet project includes other three musicians: David Virelles – piano, Dezron Douglas – bass and Jonathan Blake – drums. Among the quartet’s memorable performances are: Monterey Jazz Festival in 2001 and 2013, Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, Newport Jazz Festival in 2004 and Vienne Jazz Festival in 2005.
Ravi Coltrane became known thanks to his own efforts and an out of the ordinary talent, but also as the second son of the giant of the ‘50s and ‘60s jazz, John Coltrane, and of pianist Alice Coltrane. The sax player performed on stage and in studio with pianists McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, sax players Pharoah Sanders, Branford Marsalis, Michael Brecker, guitarist Carlos Santana, bass players Stanley Clarke, Christian McBride and drummer Roy Haynes.
