The Romanian Peasant Museum in Bucharest is organizing on June 23rd a celebration of the Sanziene or Dragaica. The International Day of Ia, the Romanian peasant blouse, is celebrated the same day. The event will take place at the French Institute. Sanzienele or Dragaica mark the time of the year when the crops begin to ripen.
The program of the event includes a reading of Mircea Eliade’s Noaptea de Sanziene (The Night of Sanziene) and of Oscar Wild’s Salome, workshops on the meaning of the Sanziene celebration, a recital by Byzantine Vocal Music group Anton Pann and an unplugged concert by Maria Raducanu.
