The Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna, conducted by Willy Büchler, will be in Romania for the eighth year in a row for a series performances across the country. They will be accompanied by the ballet company Willy Büchler, made up of Romina Kołodziej and Vladimir Snizek.

Established in 1978 by conductor Peter Guth, the most significant Strauss specialist of our days, the Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna welcomed to its ranks exceptional musicians. The orchestra became known to the Romanian public after performing at the Enescu Festival.

Since 2000, the Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna delivers the annual New Year Concert in the Grand Hall of the Wiener Konzerthaus. The concert scheduled for January 1st 2017 will be conducted by Willy Büchler also.

The authentic Vienese show will bring local audiences a premiere this year: the ballet company, set to recreate a different story for each musical piece performed. The coregraphy is signed by famous ballerina Raffaela Pegani, an artist whose career developed alongside the Strauss Festival Orchestra Vienna. She studied at the Vienna State Opera and is a first-balerina of the Slovac National Theater in Bratislava.

The concerts will take place on the following dates: December 13th in Bacau, December 14 in Constanta, December 16 in Bucharest and December 19 in Cluj-Napoca.

Tickets for the Bucharest show, which takes place at Sala Palatului, are priced RON 150 to RON 200 and can be purchased at eventim.ro.

The event is part of the national cultural program Art against Drugs 2016, a project of the International Center for Human Rights CIADO and the Cutural Association for Theater, Music and Film Dracula. The aim of the project is to inform the public about the risks associated with drug consumption.
