Odeon Theatre welcomes guests at the last event of the season, “The soldier’s tale” (Povestea Soldatului), which will take place on January 31, starting 19:00. The play will be performed by Silvestri Esemble, and conducted by Tiberiu Soare.

The Soldier’s Tale was written in 1918, a lean post-war time when jazz was just beginning to emerge into the mainstream. Igor Stravinsky (the composer) was broke, deprived of his royalties because of the Revolution. Stravinsky invented a new style, pared down to essentials, in melody, rhythm and instrumentation. The Soldier’s Tale is scored for just seven instruments: clarinet, bassoon, cornet, trombone, violin, double bass and percussion.

Tickets for the play can be purchased at the gate and are priced between RON 32 and RON 16.
