Registrations are open for this year’s Color Run on April 25, in Bucharest’s Constituţiei Square. The fifth edition, The Color Run Shine Tour, comes with a new concept: after getting smirched by a rainbow of colors throughout the trail, the runners that reach the finish line will be covered with shining powder.
The Color Run is a non-timed race of 5 kilometers, in which thousands of participants are painted from head to toe in various colors at the end of each kilometer. The only two rules of the race are to start in white clothes and finish all covered up in colors.
In Bucharest, the run starts in Constituţiei Square and continues for 5 kilometers around the Parliament Palace, where car traffic will be restricted during the event. After the race, the program includes a festival where the colored powder is used once again.
Until March 15, the participation fee for an individual registration is RON 80 and for those who register together (groups of 2 or more) is RON 75. Starting March 16, the unique participation fee will be RON 90.
The event took place for the first time in January 2012 and has grown to over 300 events and 4 million participants in 50 countries in 2014. Last year was also the first time when the Color Run was organized in Romania. According to organizers, 10.000 people from across the country participated at the four events in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Mamaia.
The next 2015 Color Run event in Romania is scheduled for Cluj-Napoca, on June 13.
