The seventh edition of Bucharest International Marathon will take place this weekend, October 4 and 5 2014. The event has a traditional, secured street route closed to car traffic on a distance of 21 km, with Piata Constitutiei as starting/ arrival point.

At the start in Piata Constitutiei, organizers expect over 8.000 participants from over 50 countries. Depending on training and endurance, runners may choose to run in the marathon (42,195 km), half marathon (21,097 km), relay (4×10,548) or in the popular race of 2,9 km. Just as last year, parents with kids under 4 years can run in the 800 m race, pushing the carriage in Jogging in diapers, supported by SAMAS. Starting this edition, kids from the age of 5 years may take part in the races for children, one year below the minimum age allowed last year. Kids aged between 5 and 8 years will run 800 m, those between 9 and 12 years – 1,5 km, and those older than 13 – 2,9 km, at the popular race.

In 2008, Bucharest International Marathon included Bucharest in the international circuit, thus joining other European capitals hosting such competitions every year.

Part of the raised funds will be allocated for programs of partner organizations: Hospice Casa Speranței, Viitor Plus, Little People, United Way, Light into Europe, WWF and the Romanian Olympic Foundation.
