EUROPAfest, the festival covering jazz, blues, pop and classical music, announced a lineup of artists coming from 43 countries, including US, Australia, Venezuela, Hong Kong or Japan. The festival takes place between May 12th and May 21st in Bucharest and Sibiu. It includes the Bucharest International Jazz Competition and the Jeunesses International Piano Competition Dinu Lipatti, as well as gala events, symphonic music concerts, jam sessions and various master classes.
Dan Papirany Band, comprising artists from Australia, New Zeeland and Norway, and the US and UK based Far from Carolina, will perform at the Bucharest opening gala, while EUROPAfest winner Ekaterina Valiulina will open the event in Sibiu.
The Bucharest International Jazz Competition will see such artists and groups as Fluxus Trio (Venezuela), Miguel Angel Lous Jazz Group (Holland, Columbia, US, Belgium), Cosmopolitan Sextet (Germany, Ukraine, Italy), In One Stroke (Hong Kong), Uta Habbig Band (Germany, Holland, Greece), Pippi Dimonte 5tet (Italy), Mina Choi Trio (US, South Korea), Michal Puchowski Vibe Quartet (Poland) or Ausfahrt (Germany).
The Jeunesses International Piano Competition Dinu Lipatti will see at this year’s edition 100 pianists from 35 countries competing for awards totaling EUR 10,000. The competition aims to discover and promote young, classical music talents. The event has been taking place since 1994, alternating the focus on piano, violin, flute, clarinet and composition.

The events in the festival will take place in locations such as Odeon Theater, the Teatrelli Hall (Creart), Caffee Ibis, the Cervantes Institute, Arcub Gabroveni and Thalia Hall in Sibiu.
