Today, at 18:30, Professor Joseph Silk, Member of the Royal Society, will hold the From Here to Eternity conference at the Christmas Conferences in Bucharest. Just as in 2013, the event takes place at the Romanian Atheneum, under the high patronage of Her Royal Highness Princes Margareta of Romania. Initiated by the great physicist Michael Faraday in 1825, the Christmas Conferences have been constantly held at the Royal Instiution in London, except for the few years during the second World War. Last year, Romania became the first country, except for the United Kingdom, to organize this annual event, always at the start of December.

Joseph Silk is considered to be the one who determined the transformation of cosmology into a high precision science. The world owes him important progresses of the first studies who tried to clarify the understanding of the Dark Matter, enabling large scale experiments with new types of telescopes. Joseph Silk is Professor at the Institut d’Astrophysique de Paris, Université Pierre et Marie Curie, Homewood Professor of Physics and Astronomy, Johns Hopkins University, Emeritus Fellow of New College, Oxford. Among others, he is Fellow of the American Physical Society and of the American Arts and Sciences Academy, and a Member of Honour of the French Physics Society.

Tickets cost RON 20 and RON 25 and can be purchased at the Romanian Atheneum ticket office, during 12:00 and 19:00. For more details on the tickets, you can contact the ticket office at +4021 315 68 75.
