The world’s best-known ice ballet company,  Saint Petersburg State Ballet on ice will perform on January 19, at Sala Palatului in Bucharest.

The ice ballet company is acclaimed as one of Russia’s jewels and is headed by Russia’s Merited Artist Konstantin Rassadin, former Mariinsky Ballet soloist. Over 80 ice skating dancers, most of them having won various international figure skating medals, are performing in the show which features spectacular choreography and hundreds of glamorous costumes.

Bucharest residents will be able to see the world premiere of ‘Romeo and Juliet’ on ice. Small fragments of the dramatic love story written by William Shakespeare have been used as background music for figure skating programs in various competitions, world championships and the Olympics. For example, the Russians won in 2006 Winter Olympics, the gold medal in sample pairs figure skating competition, with a scene from Romeo and Juliet. However, the whole work has never been adapted before for ballet on ice.

The show will start at 19:00 and tickets are available on network at prices between RON 89 and RON 279 depending on the category.
